Mixed Spring Exhibition 2007

After a fabulous opening night with guest speaker Mark Speight from SMart (CBBC programme) we got off to a great start, and the sun shone once more.  Since then we have braved the bad weather and so have our visitors, with over 100 this weekend alone!

Mark had been invited by Surrey County Council to launch Surrey Artists Open Studios, and emphasize the importance of art in education at an early age.

As it is Caroline's last Mixed Spring Exhibition, she wanted to celebrate her two projects; this exhibition and Surrey Artists Open Studios, by combining them through this show. Caroline will also be providing creative workshops for 5-16 year olds (funded by Guildford Borough Council), reiterating Mark's comment that art is for everyone, but creativity must be encouraged at an early age!

The Last Parade was a great success with a record number of over 1000 visitors, record number of sales, and many of the artists have been selected to exhibit in other Surrey Art galleries: Gallery One and The Red Biddy Gallery.

There was high praise for the artwork and venue, and we were delighted Robert Martin from the Arts Council attended, hopefully we will be working more closely with the Arts Council England on the development of Open Studios, especially Surrey Artists Open Studios.
